The Pennine Training Area was formed in 1960/61 as part of the Northern Golden Retriever Association (after existing informally for two seasons). The aim is to provide facilities for training gundogs of all the retrieving breeds in field work, to enable the owners/handlers and dogs to advance in training as far as their opportunites permit.

Training classes are held at regular intervals thoughout the year and we have grounds in Cheshire, Lancashire, Greater Manchester and Merseyside.

Subscriptions are payable annually on 1 January, at a cost of £4.00 per person to the Hon. Treasurer (cheques payable to "The Pennine Training Area", plus the NGRA (Northern Golden Retriever Association) subscription of £8.00 single or £9.00 joint membership, to be sent direct to the Hon Treasurer of the NGRA.
